Congratulations to Armel Azihar Sly-vania, 2019 YALI Mandela Washington Fellowship alumna, for her appointment as the Head of Education, Science, and Technology Cluster at Southern Africa Youth Forum (SAYoF) Comoros.
SAYoF is a regional platform for youths and youth organizations within the South African Development Community (SADC), an organization that advocates for the inclusion and participation of youth in national and regional policies. In her new role, Armel will work to ensure youth are included as important players and stakeholders in sustainable development discussions in Comoros.
Armel is a dynamic YALI alumna. As a youth leader with Global Partnership for Education, she works to transform the education system in Comoros to be more inclusive of women and girls. In 2022, Armel participated in the United Nations Transforming Education Summit in New York as a youth advisor and educational consultant. Armel is also the founder of non-profit organization IMARA (I’m A Rad African), where she serves as a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) educator.
