Moroni – The new American Corner Moroni at the University of Comoros offers invaluable research capabilities for university students, faculty, and the general public while deepening the connection between Comoros, the United States, and the world. Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Richard Verma and University of Comoros President Ibouroi Ali Tabibou inaugurated the new American Corner at the University of Comoros yesterday, officially opening this state-of-the-art research and learning environment to the university community and the Comorian people.
American Corner Moroni is a partnership between U.S. Embassy and the University of Comoros. The American people, through the U.S. government, equipped the center with more than 50,000 USD in technology and furnishings. Fondation Axian is providing high-speed internet connectivity.
Deputy Secretary Verma thanked President Tabibou and the university community, underscoring that “This American Corner embodies the United States’ commitment to expanding our relations with Comoros and the nations of the Western Indian Ocean.”
American Corner Moroni is part of a network of more than 700 similar spaces operated by the U.S. government worldwide to provide access to reliable information about the United States and the world. Like all American Corners around the world, the activities at American Corner Moroni are free of charge and open to all.
The American Corner offers the opportunity for you to learn about American culture and shared American-Comorian values, pursue educational opportunities and gain technical and entrepreneurial skills, and improve their English. The most important capacity of the American Corner is the ability for individuals and groups to join in-person and virtual conversations about the big issues that face your community, your nation, and our world.
